The KARNALI has more tributaries feeding it than any other river in Nepal making it the largest river for commercial white water rafting in the Country. It is located in the most remote western region in Nepal often referred to by the Nepalese as the "Wild West". Whilst tourism to the area is slowly increasing it is still rarely visit by large numbers of foreigners and has seen little development.
Rafting the Karali is more than just a rafting trip, it is an expedition, it takes careful logistical planning to tackle it safely and in a fun way. The section of the river we run is graded 4 to 5 but it starts off with some grade 3 to warm up on before we challenge the bigger stuff.
The banks of the river are lined with coniferous forests and the lower reaches turn to pristine jungle the likes of which have all but disappeared from most regions of the Himalayas. On the rafts and on the beaches you are likely to see a wide range of wildlife, we've seen everything from monkeys to elephants and even paw prints from some of Nepal's big cats! The elusive and mysterious Raute people, a seldom seen nomadic tribe of whom little is known and less has been written are also often seen in this area of Nepal.
Many international rafting guides and kayakers have visited this river over the years and many of them would agree that this is one of the finest rafting rivers in the world!
